Welcome to FS2, your child's class teacher is Miss Walton and the the LSA's who will be supporting your child's learning are Mrs Rhodes and Miss Locke.
Our reception class is about much more than the children learning shapes, colours, numbers and sounds. It is about them developing their curiosity, independence, confidence and resilience. This is a very exciting time for both yourselves and your children, as they take their first steps into school life.
The children have really enjoyed exploring their classroom these past few weeks. Here are some pictures of your child's classroom...
As well as exploring the classroom, we have had lots of circle times and daily chats to get to know your child and for your child to make lots of new friends! During story time, we have really enjoyed reading a range of different stories including some of the children's favourites too, especially 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. The children have also really enjoyed sharing their favourite nursery rhymes.
The children have started their Read. Write. Inc. sessions. Your child will learn a new sound each day to support reading and writing. Updates of the sound your child has learnt is posted onto Class Dojo daily. As well as learning a sound a day, we have 'Fred the Frog' to help up blend lots of our new sounds together to make a word. He also picks a 'Superstar' of the day too!

During this term we celebrated the events such as; bonfire night, Diwali and Christmas. For bonfire night we made lots of chalk and shape firework pictures. We also used lots of materials outside to make a fire engine and pretended to be firefighters!
When we looked at Christmas, we explored the real meaning behind Christmas. We also visited Rand Farm for their Christmas experience which was so magical! We really enjoyed visiting Santa's workshop too!
This term the children explored farm, arctic, jungle, rainforest, under the sea, zoo and woodland animals. They learnt about different climates, environments and how animals survive. The children then showed an interest around pets too so we shared lots of photos of our own pets.
The children also showed a real interest about the police so they also received a surprise visit from the Police, who also came in their police car which was super fun!
We also made and cooked pancakes on pancake day. The children got to choose different toppings to go on them. They tasted really good!
Fantasy and Adventure
This term was cut really short for us but whilst we were in school we looked at knights and castles, dinosaurs, wizards and witches fairies. We had great fun with this topic because we pretended to be lots of different people, make people up, create lots of new stories and made so many amazing things!
