Welcome back! We hope you have had a restful break!
This term we shall be exploring the legacy left behind by the Ancient Egyptians. We shall be learning all about key figures from the time, such as Cleopatra and Tutankhamun, and considering what role they played in Ancient Egypt. We will be linking this to our other subjects, in design technology we will be learning to sew and will design a scarab beetle, using a range of stitches.
PE has changed days this term and will now be Wednesday and Friday. Children should wear full PE kit to school on Fridays and bring their trainers for the Wednesday session. Homework will now come home on Monday and should be returned the same Friday. We will be offering homework club for the Year 5 students on a Thursday lunchtime.
This term we will learning about UK vs Northern America, focusing on Canada and Alaska. We have lots of exciting things planned, such as making our own totem poles in art and composing our own songs in music. We will be learning how to use atlases effectively and what political regions mean in Northern America. PE is Monday and Friday.
In English, we are exploring lots of exciting texts this term, including The Snow Leopard, Street Child, Wolf Brother and Saint Nicholas and the Children.
