Welcome to class 7!
We are a year 4 class and our teachers are Mr Richards and Mrs Neary. Mrs Dunbar and Mr Stark also support us in our learning.
In Maths, we are going to continue our work on our times tables and in June we will have the national Y4 Mulitiplication Tables Check. We will be focusing on fractions, decimals, calculating with money, geometry and angles and measuring time.
In English we will be looking at the following texts: The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes, The Rabbits by John Marsden and Mr Stink by David Walliams. We will use these to inspire us to create different types of narrative and non-fiction writing.
In our wider curriculum learning this term, we are learning about the Romans in History and mountains, rivers and coasts in Geography. In RE we are learning about Islam. We are designing and making savoury pancakes in DT looking painting and creating mood in Art and looking at changes of state and the water cycle in Science. To find out more, go to our news and newsletters section of the website. In Music we are learning about timbre and rhythm, in PSHE we are looking at how to stay safe in different situations and looking at important global and environmental events. In French we are learning how to order food and drink in a cafe and French instructions in a classroom and the names of different school equipment. With Synergy, we are developing our athletics skills in PE and on Mondays with Mr Richards, we are focusing on our throwing and catching skills.
Learning at home
We ask that the children read their school reading books and then quiz on them in school. Please make sure your child has their reading book and reading record with them every day. We are focusing on our times tables and would encourage everyone to keep using TT Rockstars. If you have forgotten or lost your login details please contact us via Class Dojo and we will sort this out for you. Spellings and maths home learning is sent home on a Friday and we ask that it is returned the following week.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
PE
PE takes place on a Monday and Wednesday afternoon. All children should have the correct kit in school for these lessons.
Water bottles
All children should bring a water bottle in to school with them each day. This can be filled when emptied but it should be taken home and washed each night. We ask that children only bring in water to drink, not fizzy drinks or squash.
Snacks
Children may bring in a snack for break time. This should be a healthy snack such as fruit, vegetables or a cereal bar, not crisps, chocolate or a biscuit.
After school clubs
Thursday is Y4 times tables club after school with Mr Richards. There are also lunchtime times tables clubs with Mr Richards on a Wednesday and Mrs Smalec on a Thursday. After school on a Friday is Rounders with Synergy.
