In maths, we are focusing on place value of numbers to 1000 to begin with and securing our times tables. Please practice at home.
Our first block in our English learning this year was based on the short film 'Lighthouse', we learnt all about lighthouses and wrote explanation texts about how a lighthouse works. We have also rewritten the adventure story 'The Red Prince', written a biography for Rosie Revere, created an advert for a new invention and used the Eastern European story of 'Peter and the Wolf.' We wrote the story of Peter, using lots of description and have learnt about promotional posters. We then created our promotional posters to persuade people to watch the performance of Peter and the Wolf.
Autumn term non core
In Art we have learnt different printing techniques and in Geography we have travelled to Eastern Europe! Other non-core subjects have included PE (ballgame skills) , French (ma famille), Music (beats to the bar) and Computing (internet safety).
Autumn term Science
In science we have learnt all about the human digestive system, functions of our teeth and food chains. We made our own digestive system using weetabix, water and orange juice to represent our stomach acid.
Personal development
Spring term 2021!
In Spring term we will begin our history learning all about the Vikings.
In science we will be learning about sound.
Our maths learning in the Spring Term:
We have recapped place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We have also learnt about time, decimals and fractions.
Our English learning in the Spring Term:
While doing home learning, we looked at Arthur and the Golden Rope, Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters and the Land of Neverbelieve.
We then read Stig of the Dump when we were back in school. We really enjoyed this book and made lots of predictions about what would happen in each chapter. After we read it, we wrote our own mini adventure story but instead of a cave man we had a viking character.
Our Non Core learning this term:
We found out about where the Vikings came from and how they travelled. We also learnt about important Anglo Saxon kings and how Danelaw was established.
Did you know that Lincoln would have been part of Danelaw?
Did you know Vikings didn't really have horns on their helmets?
Summer Term:
Here are some clues about what we will be learning this term.
