Welcome to Class 3
Our teacher is Mrs Gallivan and our teaching assistants are Miss Ford and Mrs Fields.
The children have made an excellent start to Year 2. Their behaviour and attitude to learning is fantastic and they are showing lots of ambition and resilience. They are a kind, respectful class and have started the term with lots of smiles. Well done Class 3!
PE- This will be on Friday afternoons and taught by Synergy coaches. Please send your child into school in uniform on these days, as we will now get changed for the session in school. Please make sure PE kits are in school throughout the week, as Year 2 teachers may deliver additional PE sessions.
WATERBOTTLES- Please make sure a named water bottle is brought into school every day. These will be sent home each night.
SNACKS- Due to Covid-19 there will be no snack shack. The children are offered fruit every day at morning break time.
HOMEWORK- Reading books have been sent home since the start of term. Please continue to read with your child every night and write a note in the reading diary. The children receive prizes for reading regularly at home. In addition to this, a short piece of homework will be sent on a Friday. It includes a maths task and 5 personalised spellings. If you have any questions about this, please ask.
There is no need for children to bring anything from home, such as; cuddly toys, pencil cases or 'things to show'.
In Maths we are looking at number and place value. Later in the term we will focus on addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, money and shapes.
In English we are currently focussing all of our English lessons on 'Handa's Surprise'. There are many more wonderful books to explore as the term progresses, but we can't tell you now because it's a secret!
The focus in Science this term is 'living things and their habitats'. We will learn about different types of habitat and the animals that can be found there. We will also learn about food chains.
In Geography the children will focus on Physical or Human. We will compare the UK in Europe to Kenya in Africa. Ask the children about all of the interesting facts they have learned.
