Our essential question this term is:

What can we learn from authors

around the world?

Year 6 took part in an animation workshop this week. After making our own models from plasticine, we created stories and used StopMotion to create short films in groups.

Once again year 6 visited Lincolnshire Show on 20th June for a jam- packed day of fun and different experiences. We saw lots of animals, practiced CPR, ate and drank our bodyweight in snacks and went on rides at the funfair. It was a great day and we really enjoyed making memories to celebrate our last few weeks at St Giles.

PE this term

In Class 12 we have been enjoying the improved weather and have managed to have a few PE session on the field in the sun. We have been focusing on athletics, particularly throwing skills, as we prepare for Sports Day and summer sports such as rounders and cricket.

In Class 12 we have been really busy since Christmas and have got stuck into our new project, 'Authors from around the world', where we have been looking at the geographical and human features of different places around the world that our favourite books were written and set. Alongside the project we have also had a focus on E-safety with the children discussing and generating ideas of how to stay safe online as well as enjoying our PE sessions in football and gymnastics.

We have been doing lots of reading; in English we have been looking at the book 'Wonder' and writing diaries and letters based on the text. As well as enjoying this book, in class we have been reading our new class book 'Bubble Boy'.

In Maths we have already learnt lots on: shape, area and perimeter, time, money and statistics and after half term we will be recapping again over fractions and the four operations in preparation for our SATs in May.

To celebrate Hello World Day on 21st November 2018, we learn all about Thailand. As well as creating Thai art, we tried lots of different Thai foods and wrote reviews about each dish.

Hello World Day- Thailand

On Wednesday 3rd October, year 6 were incredibly lucky to be visited by BRIT nominated classically trained singer, Carly Paoli. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to Carly perform for us, as well as taking part in a singing lesson and singing along to 'When children rule the world'. Take a look at the photos and watch our performance below!
